Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 24, 2026
CleanUp ("we", "our", or "the app") is a device optimization application developed by Clean Optimize. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
Summary: CleanUp does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All device scanning and cleaning operations are performed entirely on your device.
1. Information We Access
To provide its core functionality, the app accesses the following device information locally:
- Storage data: File names, sizes, and paths in cache directories, temporary files, and the Downloads folder — used to identify junk files for cleaning.
- Installed app list: Package names and app metadata (size, last used time, cache size) — used for the App Manager feature and to detect residual files from uninstalled apps.
- Battery information: Battery level, temperature, voltage, health status, and charging state — used to display battery diagnostics.
- Running processes: List of running app processes — used for the RAM Boost and CPU Cooler features.
- Device settings: Screen brightness level — accessed only when you explicitly tap the "Reduce Brightness" tip.
All of this information is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.
2. Information We Store Locally
The app stores the following data in a local database on your device:
- Cleaning history (date, amount cleaned, type of clean)
- App settings and preferences (language, dark mode, notification preferences)
- Whitelist of protected apps
This data remains on your device and is never shared with us or any third party. You can clear all local data from Settings > Clear App Data.
3. Permissions We Request
- Storage Access (READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to scan and delete junk files, temporary files, and residual data.
- Query Installed Apps (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): Required to list installed apps for the App Manager, detect residual files from uninstalled apps, and manage app cache.
- Kill Background Processes: Used for the RAM Boost feature to free up memory.
- Modify System Settings (WRITE_SETTINGS): Used only when you explicitly choose to reduce screen brightness for battery saving.
- Post Notifications: Used to send optional cleaning reminders (can be disabled in Settings).
- Boot Completed: Used to run automatic scan on device startup (only if enabled in Settings).
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob
We display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process:
- Device advertising identifier (Advertising ID)
- Device information (model, OS version)
- IP address (for approximate location-based ads)
- Ad interaction data
We use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent before showing personalized ads, in compliance with GDPR and applicable regulations. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads).
For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Play Services
The app uses Google Play Services for ad delivery. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
5. Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
- We do not access contacts, messages, call logs, or photos
- We do not track your location
- We do not read file contents — we only access file metadata (name, size, path)
- We do not transmit any device data to our servers
- We do not sell any data to third parties
6. Data Security
All app settings, cleaning history, and whitelist data are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is protected by Android's app sandboxing and is not accessible to other apps. No data is transmitted over the internet by our app (ads are handled independently by Google AdMob).
7. Children's Privacy
CleanUp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app displays advertisements that are not targeted at children.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
- You can manually clear all data via Settings > Clear App Data
- For AdMob data, you can reset your Advertising ID in your device settings
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Opt out of personalized advertising (via device settings or the consent dialog)
- Delete all locally stored app data
- Uninstall the app to remove all associated data
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated version of the app and on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised accordingly.
